Harmony Youth Asian Ensemble was founded by three passionate young musicians from New Jersey, brought together by a shared love of Guzheng and Asian music. We created this ensemble to preserve and share the beauty of Asian repertoire while exploring new ways to bring these timeless traditions to life.

In our practice and performances, we arrange traditional Eastern pieces for ensembles that bring together Asian and Western instruments. Through this cross-cultural collaboration, we hope to honor musical traditions while embracing creativity, innovation, and new forms of artistic expression.

Through Guzheng lessons, educational outreach, and performances at community events, we hope to inspire more people to discover, appreciate, and share a love of music—whether through traditional Asian music or other musical genres. We welcome anyone who shares our passion for music to join our performances, regardless of their instrument or form of musical expression. By creating unique and engaging musical experiences, we believe music has the power to connect cultures, generations, and communities.

As part of our commitment to giving back, proceeds from our lessons and performances are donated to local arts organizations to support music education and the performing arts in our community.

Our experienced student instructors have years of Guzheng training, practice, and performance experience. As part of our mission to share the beauty and richness of Asian music with students of all backgrounds, we are proud to offer Guzheng lessons designed to make learning this traditional instrument both enjoyable and accessible!

Students can choose between group lessons or private one-on-one instruction, depending on their learning style and goals. Our lessons cover the fundamentals of Guzheng playing, including proper technique, finger placement, reading number notation, traditional Asian melodies, and performance skills. As students progress, they will have opportunities to build confidence, develop their musical abilities, and explore the unique sounds and traditions of the Guzheng.

Lessons are available in person for students based in New Jersey, as well as online for students anywhere. Whether you are completely new to the Guzheng or already have some experience, our student instructors are excited to help you learn, grow, and discover the beauty of Asian music!
